How do I install windows 8?

So I bought the windows 8 disk and now i have finished building my PC i don't have an optical drive! After formatting my USB and putting the disks files on it my computer doesn't read my USB. My friend let me borrow his optical drive (which is usb) and that doesn't read either, though my mouse and keyboard read on it...

I have the disk with me. What can i do???

the usb stick needs to be prepared specially to boot from, not just putting the files from the disk in place so you can do the below instead.

I think if you prepare it, and then dump the files from the disk onto it you'll be ok. or you use the first link.
