just want to start by saying this site is a really a good source for trouble shooting.. i don't normally post threads, i normally find the answers i look for. but this time I'm stuck.

I went and got the new COD and trying to play it but its such a headache.
My set up i5 3570K
7950x2
6GB ram
240SSD
750PSU.

I disabled the Xfire and put all GPU clocks to stock (960mhz). all in game graphics are set to auto. The game does play but cant go no more five mins without it crashing. Windows crash error pops saying AMD drivers crashed and successfully restored. I did the normal human thing.... and... uninstalled the drivers and re-installed it and then play the game and same issue turns up..
But after hours of messing about with it.. I opened MSI afterburner and dragged the core clock slider all the way down to 480mhz and everything else left as normal (stock).. started the game and managed to play it without any problems.

what I'm after is.. is this sort problem normal? anyone has these issues?

Right now 14.9.2 Beta works wonders for some, at least over 14.9 WHQL, so update them if you haven't done so already.

Otherwise yes, there are still no optimized drivers from AMD, as 14.9.2 was to enable Mantle support on Civ5 Beyond Earth; I believe they'll be available soon though, they tend to come out between 1 and 2 weeks after a game release from what I've seen.

Make sure when you install AMD drivers you thoroughly uninstall the previous ones. I use AMD's uninstall tool, then Driver Sweeper.

I'm running a 7970, 8GB RAM, and an i7 950 and have no such problems. The only crashes I've had were a few that were related to corrupt saves. Restarting the mission fixes it.

Also, this game uses a LOT of RAM. I have an X58 MB and originally had 6GB RAM on it. I added 2GB more when one of the popular games came out recently was using almost all my free RAM, and it helped.

I also found out I can still run my RAM in triple channel mode even with four 2GB modules on a 6 slot board.

I have a similar setup with saphire dualx 7950 3gb+
8gb 1600mhz
Fx-4200 OCd to 3.6ghz

I have relatively less specs and don't experience the same issues. Well, not anymore. I Uninstaller AW spent 4 hours downloading again - afterwards it worked. Why? No clue. I later had similar issues that were caused by something docent. What I mean by that is my windows installation became corrupt while tweaking my performance (OCing and such - to many reboots) and I would experience the same issues. Until I reinstalled 8.1, no matter what I did the game would crash within 5 mins or go to a red screen and the PC died. I at first thought I fried my g. card and almost cried lol. This time around I installed Windows to a 64gb Ssd, installed steam and my games on 2 x 300gb 10k rpm drives. I even threw in a 2TB 5400 for DVR and movie download purposes.

Now it works okay, with some quirks.

I can play the single player fine - all setting set to extra . When in multilayer - that's when things get messy.
At first game start the lag is insane. Sometimes it feels like I'm on a treadmill because it keeps forcing me back to my original destination before moving. All setting get put to low/off and it still take 1-2 minutes to pick back up. If I get into a game win or lose I try to stick with that server because on next load it goes faster. I read about lag comp, but it can't be this bad lol, I have a 100 down 25 up connection. I'm all but abandoning AW until dedicated servers are put in. I get very upset watching kill cams that I've unloaded on someone and it doesn't even show my gun raise before dead. Games not truly playable and is a waste of money in my opinion.

To reach their own though.
