I just need a real cheap video card that works. It is for games off steam, but really lame games.

Like Age of Empires HD. Right now, Steam says the video card is too old.

I also trade sports, like NBA. These are casino sites. I get this error on some casino games.

---

Stage3D: Driver info software hw_disabled=unavailable

it is an Adobe Flash player error.

---

After trading, I get a lot of free Casino bonus money. Trading is like Day-trading, so I purchased this old Vostro just to watch the scores in games live. But flash will soon become an issue, so I need that fixed.

As low budget as possible works for me! I live in Canada, so whatever works shipping wise to reduce the cost, however, I like good service just the same.

The trading software will be run on this machine as well, and may use Flash. It is like a backup machine long-term. I paid $80 for it. Fair price for a crappy system. lol

Thanks Tea Urchin!

I did read it can run 8.1 with a good video card and 4G ram. I can change anything easily, I just have not played with hardware in such a long time. I really like the idea this card can do a dual monitor set-up as well. I think. lol

I have been doing a lot of reading!

You did find the best price on this card. : )

Now, what kind of ram do I need??? Specs sort of thing. 3 GB works for me as well. Or 4 GB and dump the others if that is cheaper. I will probably just slowly upgrade it as long as it keeps working.

OK, I will get back at you tomorrow. Many thanks! I will keep Windows 32 bit on this machine for now. I will go with 3 gig, as I have read Windows 7 32 bit cannot access more than 3.4 Gig without a major kernel hack.

I will call EVGA tomorrow to see if it fits into a Dell Vostro. I came across some bios issues and video cards on Dell computers.

Hi Tea Urchin. I ordered the video card you suggested.

And for fun, I downloaded the beta of Windows 10. Works like a charm, even with 2 GIG!!!

No issues, no freezing, nothing!

The beta is for users to test and provide feedback. A licensed Windows product is required. A slow upgrade, but all works fine. I would say even better!

I will check out ram deals, but I believe all I need is DDR2. I might go with 4 GIG, and end the upgrade of the back up machine. I t is just some deals are better for 4 GIG than buying 2 GIG. I can sell the old ram.

You answers were great, and I will close the thread in about a week or so, once I install the video card.

Very cheap all in all. $180 for a very nice machine that was once ugly. These Vostro's can be had at garage sales for like $20. Next time, I would pay that.

Trading at Betfair was flawless, and I had four windows multitasking.

I am sure I can find the answer, but does DDR2 work if I upgrade to a board using DDR3?

Also I plan to get an SSD drive, but no hurry. I have little to back up, I just run a small Excel file to keep track of trades.

The next machine however, does need 8 cores. I will explain why later. And fast Excel speed. I am working on a proto-type Baseball engine, that produces 100% per year returns. Total trading. lol!

I love doing it, it's my trip. : )
