I have been thinking about getting an ssd for my system. I would solely be using it for win 7 and frequently used programs. I was thinking that I would get an 840 evo but today I said newegg has a corsair ls 120gb ssd for $45 AR. Currently the 840 evo is $80 for the 120gb model. Would there be any significant reason I should choose the evo over the corsair ssd for what I am intending to use it for?

Even if the performance of the two drives is the same, the Samsung still wins because of their outstanding Magician software. Samsung's Magician is second to none for optimizing performance and monitoring and maintaining the health of your SSD.

If you get the 840 Evo, update the firmware before using the drive because Samsung recently corrected a bug on their 840 Evo drives that would cause the drives to run much slower than they should. This bug is fixed in the newest firmware.

I recommend a 256GB SSD if possible. SSD prices have dropped quite a bit lately, and the 256GB drives will be faster than the 128GB drives because they use more chips in parallel and can read and write data much faster.

I am going by both personal experience and word of mouth. I have personally used and/or installed five Samsung SSDs, for myself and my customers, and all work perfectly. Also , I've heard many people talk about owning Samsung SSDs with great results. I've heard almost nothing about SanDisk SSDs (plenty of reviews on tech sites, but no owner feedback).
