Greetings to all! I have an older Dell tower given to me around three years ago. It's running Windows XP (sp3) and had an Nvidia Quadro FX1000 installed which worked just great until I began seeing artifacts on the display and, after troubleshooting, determined the graphics card was the culprit. Bought another NVidia card, a Quadro FX3000 that was in good condition and installed it. The PC boots normally, then goes to the Windows logon screen. After entering my password, Windows tells me it's loading my personal settings and then freezes. At this point, everything is locked up and I'm unable to go farther. I can boot through to my desktop using safe mode, however.
The PC is free from viruses and other malware. The Nvidia driver is straight from Nvidia's website, is correct for the adapter, and is Windows certified.
I don't understand why it would cause Windows to hang while trying to boot normally when things look great up to after I've logged onto Windows. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!
