Hello, I have a XFX TS 550W PSU and have been using it for around 4 months. specs -
cpu -i5 4430
gpu- r9 270x windforce
2 120mm case fans
1 normal SATA HDD
3 usb components.

I used the watt calculator and it brings me up to around 370watts with the r9 270x. Changing to a r9 290, the wattage goes up to 442 watts.
I do not overvolt my gpu , I do increase the fan and maybe OC by 50mhz. Will upgrading to a r9 290 from the 270x be possible for a while or should I upgrade my PSU immediately before attempting to power on the system with the new 290?
I have read a few other threads on here about 290s running on 550W psu and have seen an extremely mixed bag of answers.

perfect. I heard a lot about gigabyte's windforce r9 290's running super hot like 90c+ , shoudl I expect this from their brand? I have a 270x from windforce and its been great, never went over 68C even with max settings in games from 2014. I will be suprirsed if their 290's are not cooled well
