I'm building a system for recording gameplay. I intend on an i7 4790 for CPU and a MSI geforce 970.

I'm a techie, but I'm also old & out of touch so I'm not planning on O/C at all. The H97 boards seem no different in price to Z97 here in the UK, so I don't see the point in preferring a H97.

The Gigabyte Z97P-D3 seems to be quite a bit cheaper than the other Z97 boards and I'm wondering if there is something I'm overlooking. It appears to fulfill the requirements for my setup (except having gold highlights not red. grr).

Any reason I should spend another £20+ on a different board?

Update: here's a link to the whole intended build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/kaine83/saved/dhfV3C

I see a lot of people taliking about the MSI Gaming boards. The 3 for example is £90, the 5 £110.

I guess the question is why should I spend more? Is it down to the type & number of USB, PCIe etc, or are there other performance aspects that come into it?
