I just got Asus Z97 Mobo and it comes with builtin wifi module.
Now I can connect my DSL internet to my TP-Link router and can wirelessly connect to my desktop without the need for patch cable, with the help of onboard mobo wifi module.

Now, I want to throw away my TP-Link router and use Mobo onboard wifi as my router, and I cant seem to figure it out how this can be done...

Can you ppl put some light on it plz.

PS: On Win7 SP1 and have updated all drivers.

The reality of doing this is highly dependent on the TV, its build in functions and the apps it can run. DLNA is supported by Windows so the computer should be accessible by a DLNA TV without any other software. But you will be limited to encoding the video in the file types that your TV supports. This may not include HD MKV or large mp4 files for instance. With my setup, I would have needed to break Blu Ray movies into several small files for my TV to work with them. Read the full literature for your TV on what it can really do before you invest...

Well I have already referred tht document.... and was able to connect frm router-to-desktop without patch cable BUT STILL cant figure out how to use the inbuilt Wifi as a standalone router.
I have configured my internet in my current TP-Link Router via PPPOE/Russia method with service name etc.... In the Asus Wifi software page there is no option to enter those details and hence cant connect!

There is no modem its a DSL/Cable line in an apartment complex.
The Ethernet Cable directly comes to my house -> have to connect to my PC directly -> Create dialer with user/pass & service name -> Get connected OR Connect Ethernet cable to Router -> Enter above settings in screenshot -> Fix a patch cable frm Router-to-PC -> get connected.

I really hope I will get a solution, as I cant find an answer anywhere on the net.

OK, while connected to the Internet with the above configuration, install the AISuite, run the Wi-fi Go application and select the AP mode.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRZT63MXbic , from min.4.57

meaning -insert a name for the connection (SSID). select and confirm a password for the Wi-fi connection and select the LAN port that the ISP cable is connected to your computer (Local Area Connection ...).
Then test with a laptop or smartphone if able to connect.

Thanks for video, trying exactly as described... but unable to connect to any mobiles/tablets.
In SSID Do I have punch any particular name? I tried my Service name and couple of others with same result.

Also, tried both: Local Area connection (where it is connected) and Broadband Connection - Again same problem.

The Error is attached as a screenshot:

checkout the link... doesn't seem helpful as its already activated in my case (See above screenshot)... Can it be related to MAC ?

My ISP MAC Lock the computer... so if I change router or buy a new PC I have to perform MAC Reset.... BUT, then the Wifi GO is working perfectly when wirelessly connected to Router So am not sure what can it be.

I can Use MAC Clone if tht is a problem. (U need to give me procedure)

There are also instructions on microsofts site how to do this. If you really get stuck there are very inexpensive third party apps like connectify hotspot that are designed to make it easy to install.

Still I am not sure why would ever want to do this. Using a expensive computer to act as a router is wasting the power of the computer. It will degrade your computers abilities because it need to give priority to the wireless connected devices so they get good connectivity. If you did not already have a router and could not afford one I maybe could see but to throw away a device and then degrade a expensive computer is crazy.

Well actually I have an N300 based Router and the builtin one is .ac standard so I thought maybe I will get better speeds with it, hence wanted to use the inbuilt wifi as main router.

BTW, the builtin software can beam movies on my PC to my TV via Wifi/Wifi direct OR only via DLNA ?
Some suggestion for a good software to beam HD movies to my TV wirelessly pls...

Plex Media Server is a very good way to connect your TV to a home server through a device that supports the Plex app.
