I recently build a new computer and while testing its stability, ran into an issue when installing certain programs Windows locks up until I reboot the PC.
I press the num lock on the keyboard to see if the light goes off, no reaction.

So far the programs that do this are:
The Intel Network drivers
Catzilla benchmark tool
Corsair Link Dashboard

Some of these programs appear to be installed after the reboot, Catzilla opens but then Windows freezes.

I have tried a singe stick of RAM in different slots, and also a different RAM stick from my other PC. Still freezes.

Let me know if you need more info, I'm willing to do a full re-install if needed, I just want to get to the bottom of this.

The build:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K
Motherboard: Asus Z97-DELUXE
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2133 (CMZ16GX3M2A2133C10)
Video Card: EVGA EVGA GTX980 Superclocked (04G-P4-2982-KR)
Storage: Samsung 850 Pro Series 256GB
PSU: Corsair RM 850W
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit - Fresh install

Thanks for the reply.

I looked through C:\Windows for MEMORY.DMP but it isn't there.
Any tips? or i'm I looking for the wrong thing?

Is it possible that since my PC is freezing and not BSOD the file isn't being created?
