SLI 2 GTX 970 4GB - Need experts opinion

Hi All,
Warm Greetings !!

My current build is 1080P MONITOR , MSI GD65 , GTX 970 4GB, 16GB CORSAIR , 1050 PSU , FULL ATX CASE, 500GB SSD, i7 4770K.

I am planing to do an SLI setup with another GTX 970 4GB. I have no plans of doing 4K upgrade or to go with multiple monitors setup.
I am using only one monitor and I play on projector sometimes at 1080P.

Is putting extra 300$ for SLI overkill.
I mean I am in the asumption that already the existing GTX 970 4GB is more than enough for my build.Will I be wasting my money if I go for SLI with no intentions of 4K.

I play all latest games till dat like Titan Fall , BF4, FC3, STAR CITIZEN etc...

970 should be plenty, use it and see, and then decide.

General consensus is, for 1080p, a single GTX 970 is sufficient, unless a game is poorly coded, like Watch Dogs.

Seeing as I can max out all games on my 780 @ 1080p I see no point in anything over a single 970 for 1080p unless going for 144hz

Have you tried Crysis 3 1080 max settings antialiasing etc.?

Nope.I played crysis 3 under default settings..Normally I don't over-tune the settings , I leave them to NVIDIA GEFORCE Optimum settings.

This being sayd i'm asuming you don't care that much about eye candy, i personally always max everything out because i like to see awesomeness, but if you don't care you don't need another 970's.

Better donate that money to charity.

Not a single gpu on the market can max out crysis 3 or metro with SSAA or high anti aliasing at 1080p

I have a 780ti and I cant do it either.

I do tune some of them.But I care for smooth play.So wondering is existing 4gb already a overkill or not ? for this 1080P build I mentioned.

And i'm not even talking about the Titan - Z that will just blow crysis 3 away with max settings and max AA.

The point of my argument was, if his card cannot , the answer is no you will not have enough with just 1 card, so you will need 2.

But since he said he doesn't care about maxing out it does not matter.

PS: have tons more benchmarks and vids of single cards maxing out crysis 3. keep in mind that this video was recorded that also takes away 5 fps ~

Find a single bench of any single GPU card being able to run crysis 3 with MSAA 8x on at 1080p and hold 50-60fps.
