I get an error on start up that says NVIDIA Graphics card not installed correctly. The SLI connector is attached to the SYNC/SDI finger on the graphics card. The options are shut down now or later.

im not even using SLI i am using the following hard ware:

GTX 760 2GB

GTX 650 1GB dedicated PHYSX

16GB Kingston Hyper X RAM

ASUS P7P55-D MOBO

H80i CPU water cooler

i7 (8 thread) 2.8 GHZ CPU, OC = 3.85 GHZ

2 x 1TB HDD

i've had this problem with this driver and the last one and this current one. the last driver i've had no issue with so far is 335.23. I'm currently using 344.60 nvidia driver, all i do is choose shut down later and i dont see it untill i restart the PC. also i'd like to note that i've run call of duty advanced warfare with the new driver and my fps is boosted by about 30-40 FPS there's clearly no contest on the better driver. But I'd love to know why this is happening, also worth noting that this error only appears whn i use the PHYSX card. when i unplug the GTX 650 the error doesn't come up, but the system runs just fine either way the only difference being this error message. my PHYSX card gives me a great advantage in display so can any one else testify this error or any solutions.

also i'm not using any SLI cables at all and control panel is set to dedicated Physx for my GTX 650

any help would be awesome thanks :)

I said in the beginning i wasn't using an SLI bridge, what i'm saying is i have a GTX 650 as a dedicated PHYSX driver and i'm not using any SLI bridges or anything like that. my main card is a GTX760 currently. this error only appears with drivers after 355.23. I'm currently using 344.75 NVIDIA driver.

yes i've uninstalled the drivers for both cards using device manager and re installed from nvidia website i've also tried clean install, it seems to do this with any driver past 335.23. i'm wondering if its because the new divers are geared for the 900 series.

i just tried a clean install from nvidia setup. and still the error remains. again it does nothing after i hit shut down later. and the newer driver is 100% better than 335.23, but i just wish i knew the cause of it. any other ideas guys :)

To get your cards up and running, do a fresh installation of display drivers now that you physically installed your new card. Old graphics drivers leave traces that can mess things up with new cards unless you clean everything out using DDU. Here is the download link to the latest version of DDU:

http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/display-driver-uninstaller-download,14.html

It will start downloading automatically. Run it. Let it take you to Safe Mode by restarting the computer. When prompted, check the box to remove the C:\nvidia and C:\AMD folders. Use the option to clean and restart. That will put you back in Windows without any graphics drivers in addition to what Windows will use to display basic stuff.

Then download GeForce Experience from this link:

http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience/download

Install it, open it, and install the drivers through the program. If the windows doesn't fit on your screen because the resolution is messed up, click anywhere inside the Catalyst window to make sure it the active window, and then press on your keyboard "Window+Up Arrow." That will maximize the window and force it to fit on your screen so you can click on things.

After the new driver installs, restart - even if it doesn't require you to restart. You'll then be in Windows with new - and only new - graphics drivers.

If that doesn't work, then there is something more serious wrong, but be sure to try this first. It's a common issue when installing new graphics cards.

after uninstalling using the DDU software, the first hing to happen is windows installs the VGA software for the display adapters but the gtx 650 fails the install, im guessing its cause its not plugged in. the screen remains in low resolution at this point. the 650 at this moment reads (code 10) and when i plug in the 650 using DVI there is no picture.

installed Geforce Experiance latest model 2.1.4. Downloaded the latest driver currently 344.75. Performed a CLEAN INSTALL if all nvidia drivers and restarted my pc as instructed, resolution is back to 1920x1080 after restart. and the error still remains. again this error has only started to appear with all drivers after 355.23

using the latest driver has show significant performance increase and the only real annoyance is this error message which is quickly dismissed. the (CODE 10) error is now gone from the gtx 650. when i plug my DVI cable into the gtx 650 it now show a display at the correct resolution, but again i use the 650 as a PHYSX driver. i almost convinced it's because the new drivers dont like PHYSX cards. this error again only seems to show up when i use 2 gpus.

I had issues with PhysX and doing the DDU process a few times helped. I have a 750 ti as a PhysX card, but that shouldn't make a difference.

What I did was manually uninstall everything with the word "Nvidia" in it from control panel, restarting the computer after uninstalling each item (yes, it took a while and was annoying - sorry). Then I did the DDU process over again, and everything worked. No idea why! It just worked.

After doing that, I was able to open Nvidia Control Panel (right-clicking on the desktop) and see under the PhysX section that the computer auto-selected the right card to do PhysX. Other issues in games, and weird error messages, went away. Hopefully it works for you too!

after the re installation i can select my 660 as physx driver no issue there and in fact when i open the nvidia control panel the 650 is already auto selected. i can't say for sure whats causing this but it's gotta be nvidia related cause like i said it only appears from the latter drivers. never had an issue before. well there's no issue now really either other than that error message. if anyone figures out anything further please don't leave us hanging :)

I get this error every now and then also.
I have found a minor fix that works for awhile, perhaps only until a new driver is released.
Im running a GTX 760 and a GTX 560Ti, non SLI, The 560 is my dedicated physx.
so my fix is as follows:
Turn off your PC
Connect your two GPU's with an SLI bridge.
Turn your PC on, let it boot into windows.
Turn your PC off and remove the SLI bridge.
Boot up and the error should be gone.

Like I said I'm not sure if this only works for a limited time, or until a new driver comes out, but it does work for me.

Wait, I just re-read the error message in your screen shot: Are the GPUs linked with an SLI bridge?

They shouldn't be. You don't have an SLI configuration. The cards should just be plugged into the motherboard with power cables, and that's it.

If there's not SLI bridge connected to the cards, try going into Nvidia Control Panel's SLI menu and make sure there's nothing enabling SLI, which it may be trying to do.

Two more ideads: First, switch the PCI-e slots of your cards by physically taking them out, putting them in a different slot, and repeating for each card. Is the 970 closest to the CPU or visa-versa? Usually the main card shoudl be closer to the CPU, but try some different configurations to see what happens. Second, try running the monitors from each card, even though you're eventually going to run the screen(s) from the 970. Maybe it will toggle something that helps.

If none of that works, you can always call Nvidia to see what they have to say about it.
