My windows 7 PC bogs down (CPU usage goes up to 100% and ram starts to fill up) forcing a reboot every time my Wi-fi connection drops or if someone turns off the router.

I do not know whats causing it, or how to fix it. I keep my registry clean. I keep the computer defragmented, and I keep the hard disks in check. What could be the issue?

It's a USB Wi-fi adapter from Patriot if that helps.
