Repeated Hard drive failures

I've run into an issue with my home built PC that I've had for about two years now where any hard drive I use in it seems to start reporting problems after a week or two. I went through about five Toshiba's, half a dozen seagates and am on the third WD now and while it's not reporting bad sectors it's less than two days old and I haven't started recovering my old files from my external drive to the new one yet and it's already hanging up.
The only reason for the initial replacement of the HDD was because after several years and being migrated through several builds my old 500GB IDE finally kicked the bucket and I decided it was time to upgrade to a SATA drive.
Here's my current system specs:
Win7 x64 ultimate
10GB ram
NVIDIA GeForce 210 graphics card
3.3GHZ AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 255 Processor
2TB WD Hard Drive purchased from Microcenter.com through a local branch

ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX Motherboard
The HDD is connected to the SATA 1 port at the moment and I've checked the temp on the case and even at it's hotest (running ESO after 3 hours) it didn't pass 100F but I added a second fan to be safe.

Try putting a UPS, APC or even a power filter, and try swaping your PSU. Never know might help. I had a friend whose hard drives died frequently due to dirty power in his area. Once he got a UPS it stopped having issues. He burned through a few drives before he switched over and hasn't lost a drive in the 2.5 years since.

You could also just be the unluckiest man.

No strange habits. I have a Diablotek 500 watt PSU wich is what the system has been running since it was built. I'd have to get back to you on the BIOS readings as I'm trying to get my graphics design school work done despite the hang ups.

And I also use a cyber power UPS wich let's me know what the incoming wattage to it is which makes me glad I have it and worried about whoever did the wiring on this house since it fluctuates from 90 watts to 140 watts randomly. I wouldn't discount the unlucky shot though- I started learning how to fix my own computer 12 years ago when I was 13 because it was cheaper to do myself than to take it to a shop every few months.
As some added info I have tried swapping SATA cables, using different SATA power connectors, and using different SATA ports on the MOBO and it doesn't seem to have made any impact.

At this point it's been more than 10 HDDs in less than 3 months the folks at Microcenter are probably getting to a point they have a shelf in the returns and exchanges department with my name on it full of hard drives. I think one of the Toshiba's was reporting something in the range of 130 bad sectors the 3rd day I had it.

Thanks for the heads up i7Baby, that will defiantly be the first thing I take care of as soon as I can. Unfortunately I'm out of work at the moment so I don't have any way of getting a replacement at this time and I don't think any of the spare PSUs laying around have SATA connectors on them.
