Hello all,

I am connecting two routers, a D-Link ADSL modem/router (Primary), and a Linksys E1200 with DD-WRT flashed on it (Secondary). I am using the Client Mode in the secondary router to connect wirelessly to an Open SSID the primary router emits.

The connection between the two routers seems to be working seamlessly. I checked the web gui of the primary router and I can see the MAC address of the secondary router among the list of connected clients.

However, my problem is that with this setup in place, I am unable to access the secondary router from my laptop, either through web, telnet, or even ping.

Here is the setup in details:

I set my primary router's IP address to 192.168.1.1, and that of the secondary to 192.168.2.1. DHCP is enabled on both routers. As I said, my primary router's web UI page shows that the secondary is connected successfully to its WLAN. I connect my laptop (with its wireless disabled to avoid connecting to my primary router) to the secondary router, LAN to LAN. The connection is successful, and ipconfig command shows that my laptop has been given an IP address in the 192.168.2.XX range, and that its gateway is 192.168.2.1 (the secondary router's IP). Everything seems perfect, except that I am unable to get to http://192.168.2.1. The browser keeps trying to get to the page forever, and it does not show "Page cannot be displayed" except when I unplug the router.

I appreciate any help with this folks.

Finally, got that fixed. Just make sure to set the Gateway and the Local DNS on the Basic Setup page of the DD-WRT router to 192.168.1.1. Otherwise, it won't work.
