I'm buying a pre-built HP PC with
i7 4770 3.2Ghz
16 GB DDR3 RAM
GTX 760 1.5GB OEM
what kind of performance can I expect from this card in games like battlefield 4,COD:advanced warfare, far cry 4 etc. Im not a graphics freak, medium to high settings with no AA at 1080p will be fine for me. I couldn't find any benchmarks for this card.
Or should I leave the whole rig and look for one with a GTX 760 or 770?
and please don't tell me to make my own rig. where I live, assembling a PC is actually MORE expensive than buying one. Strange,eh? :)

Solution

Exactly why its a good option to try it.

I used an almost identical GPU for a while (a 660 oem...

yeah, i'm only gonna be using 1 monitor. thanks alot man!

you have an underclocked gtx760 with different memory configuration. 192bit 1.5gb vs 256bit 2gb, the performance difference is negligible if your on a single 1080p monitor. overclock your oem 760 to reference gtx760 levels and you will not notice the difference.

Canada? Na man, i'm from Pakistan
The card is a GTX 760 1.5GB OEM, I was wondering what type of performance it would give in the latest games at 1080p or whether i would be better off with a reference GTX 760

thanks!, and can you tell me how long i can expect this graphic card to last until I have to upgrade it?

it should last a few years at least. you still have considerably more graphics horsepower than a ps4/xb1.

as far as the canada thing goes it is because you said

MORE expensive than buying one. Strange,eh?

canadians like to use that phrase eh at the end of sentences quite a bit more than the average person. just kinda a north american joke. kinda like people from wisconsin will say doncha know.

now for some other answers.

while the speed of the GDR is not terrible the actual lack of GDDR will stop you from playing many games at higher resolutions. you really want 3 GDDR nowadays (a 7950 or r9 280) and at least 2 GDDR just to play games even like assassins creed 4 at 1080p

So there is gonna be a very prominent difference between 1.5GB and 2GB 760s? And it won't be able to run the latest games at 1080p, at any settings?
I use eh alot, I like the sound of it :D hope im not offending any canadians here by copying their joke! :p :D

while they do perform very well and the chip itself is great if you look at the current games that are coming out they all say 3 gigs of GDDR and many are starting to ask for 3 gigs of GDDR

this is why I still like the old 7950's (on par performance with the gtx 760) or the rebranded r9 280/280x

i would not buy a card under any circumstance that has less than 2 gigs of GDDR.

personally i like 3 at least. why because it is pretty and it is my hobby. but in the end you can get by with 2 gigs just fine.

the easiest way to explain that you need 2 gigs is just look at the download size of games nowaday. all that info are graphics textures and those need to be loaded into ram just like any program (not running windows on a gig of ram anymore).

btw canadians are ridiculously nice people who are never offended, except the french ones.

Yeah but it came with the pc, so cant choose. It will still perform fine, you just need to reduce the amount of AA and textures as you only have 1.5Gb vram.

so if I keep medium textures and and next to no AA at 1080p, will it be able to handle most next gen games. The qs a bit murky, but try answering it as best as you can!
and yes, a cousin of mine lived in Ottawa and said the same thing about canadians.....although he didn't mention the french ones!

the minimum requirements for the new assasins creed game is a r9 280x /7970 and at least 2 gigs of ram. this is the new trend. I would hold out for a 7950/7970 at least.

I just do not like recommending going to many generations back in tech

is there any chance you could sell that gpu then by another used gpu instead.

unity is being released on the consoles so it is fairly safe to say a gtx760 will handle the game. physx in assassins creed black flag would drop your fps about 20%, just like in every other game, pointless eye candy that is not needed. turn off physx and run fxaa and the 760 will have absolutely no issues at 1080p.

the 1.5gb vram is only an issue if hardware anti aliasing is used.

yeah, i just saw a benchmark of AC unity by a guy who said he's using an i5 3450 with a GTX 660 and he's running it on high settings at 1080p!
So? Stick with the GTX 760 OEM, thats your final opinion?

If its coming with the pc, then give it a go and see. If you arent happy with the performance, then sell it and get something else :)

I would man, but as I said before, PC components by themselves are expensive in my country
the gigabyte G1 GTX 970 is listed on amazon for $370, in my country and currency its almost $540
i'm not willing to change my Gpu unless it is absolutely necessary for gaming at 1080p on med to high settings, is it?
