I have a Sapphire r9 280x that has an 8-pin and a 6-pin connectors. I have a new power supply with one cord that has two 6+2 connectors on it. I also have an adaptor to make a 6-pin connection from just one of the standard computer connector slots so is it better to

1. Use the "one" cord with both 6+2 connectors to hook up my graphics card? Or

2. Use one of the connections from the 6+2 line and then use an adaptor to make a 6-pin from another line.

Maybe there is no difference, just wondering if either produced better power flow tot he gpu.

Solution

There will be no difference in power consumption whether you use 1 or 2 cords, use whatever you feel like.

Not sure what you mean? The Psu has a line with a 6+2 that then chains into another 6+2. Guess the crux of my question is, is it better to have one or two cords going from the psu to the gpu.

Ok I think that's what I'm looking for. Wasn't sure if there was a different potential to deliver more or less amps or something.
