Hi. My friend bought a motherboard with Pentium Dual Core E2140 clocked at 2.66Ghz last week. Then he bought an C2D E8400 and it was clocked at 1.2Ghz. He made it to 3Ghz but the computer didn't start, like the CPU is clocked at 5Ghz. Then I low it to 2.4Ghz and the PC worked. After 15 minutes I got the CPU can be clocked up to 2.66Ghz. The benchmarks show the Pentium is better than the C2D.I can't believe it! Please, tell me guys where is the problem. I think it is in the motherboard. There's more to a processor, then just the Gigahertz rating. There are other factors such as: Multithreading, onboard cache, etc. In the old days, a true Pentium 4, always was faster than , say a Celeron of equal speed, due to the fact the Pentium had more 'onboard cache', than the celeron.

Here's a site which compares your two processors with each other, gives some pretty good information on the differences between the two.

Hope this helps!
