I have had several threads here in the past month or two on this issue trying to get this black screen card shutdown issue fixed on my end. However everything has pretty much failed as games were just too unstable while this card was under load for pretty much everything other then browsing.

I started a RMA request process on October 27th and sent my card in that friday on the 31st. I now have a brand new XFX R9 280X(not refurbed like i dreaded) that came in the mail about 1 hour ago. A turnaround of a week! I am highly thrilled with XFX and this timetable. I fully expected to be waiting a month or so maybe longer. The card failed the testing in their process but no word on exactly what the issue was. I still think something was causing voltage issues though.

I will install the new one soon and give a update here if i have any new issues with it. But XFX has a fan for life with this great service!

Solution
i think this is worth posting again. ok sorted this problem out, after months of searching the web and changing drivers, crash after crash. i found a solution which is very simple well a work around for R9 280x, Down load MSI afterburner and down clock the card, as follows in settings unlock voltage control, select force constant voltage, set core volt 1100, power limit +20, core clock 1000, memory clock 1400. save as profile one. every time you play wot open MSI afterburner. this does not effect performance very stable. i have not had a crash for over 7 days.

i think the manufacture is to blame on this trying to push the chips or should I say over tweaking them for a batter sale, and need to put a driver out to lower the setting for...
