my first build, it took me HOURS. first I was afraid I tightened the heatsink too tight, then after installing the motherboard into the case I realized it was pointing up torwards the top vents, instead of blowing air out the back fan... oh well I figured best to leave it be since its working and just install a extra fan on the top to help with exhausting from the cpu? I installed everything, was overwhelmed by all of the cables and did a very poor job of cable management, some of them barely reached and are running across my computer like a spider web.. but since nothing is obstructing any fans or looking dangerous I figured i'd just leave that alone also and move on... then.. the critical moment. the power wouldn't start. I reconnected all wiring and waited... tried again and again and IT WORKED after about 10 tries and checking connections! I still don't know why it wouldn't work...I think my psu is just finicky.

Congrats on the new build first off. Like Barney6262 said, you can always come back later for some cable management. There are plenty of extensions/adapters you can buy to clean things up and take some tension off of the connections which is most like what the problem was. For now though, relax and enjoy your new PC!

Hi, don't worry about your build. A lot of first time builders feel they did a terrible job and that the whole thing is going to fall apart. But really it is difficult to break a computer when assembling it as long as you don't do anything stupid.

Your cable management was probably the issue (when powering on) as some cable was probably under as bit of tension and was getting pulled out. you can always try re-doing it later when you have the time although it shouldn't be a massive issue for the time being.
