Solution
Intel CPUs such as the one you are thinking of come with stock coolers, so the old one will be redundant.

If you clean off the old HP one and re-paste it, it would fit, but there is no need for it.

So, you are saying you have an i5 from an HP with an HP heatsink? It is probably the same, but no guarantees...
I don't know if the motherboard will require any other hardware (nuts, bolts, washers, etc).
You should try to find a better price for your Windows 8.1 and spend the $25 saved on a CM212 heatsink ...

yea i'm just going to take out the cpu from my current motherboard and put it into the new one.

I'm relatively new to all this, do you have something in mind to save money from the windows 8.1 on the list?
oh and yea, i plan on getting a better cooler but for now i'm just planning on reusing the cpu and heatsink.
