Is there any point to get higher frequency RAM if your CPU can't support it?

Hi, I would like to know if there is any point of getting the Gskill Ripjaws 4 RAM 16GB (4x4) at 3000MHz if my CPU (Intel i7 5930k) can only support up to 2133 MHz, but my motherboard (Asus Rampage V Extreme) can support up to 3300 MHz? Or should I just get 2400MHz of RAM at 32GB? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Solution
That's the base freq for your CPU, it can handle faster sticks, for 3000 a OC of the CPU will prob be required - sort of like the 4770K and 4790Ks are both listed as 1600 DRAM, yet I run 2666 on my Z87 and 2800 on my Z97
