Just swapped to the ASUS 990FX r2.0 today. Was getting blue screens due to the SATA being set to AHCI and needed to be set to IDE. Also I am noticing almost a decrease in performance?... My RAM is only reading as 1333 when it is 1866, and whenever I set the speed manually to 1866 it says the overclocking has failed. I assume its because the voltages may need to be increased but I am not sure. How can I get my memory working at its actual speed?

Also It seems like i lost performance somehow with this swap. I was being told my previous board didnt support the 8350 and was probably running 6 of the 8 cores.

Is there something I need to set up with the processor/video card in the BIOS with this new board?

And also it seems I have noticed some little issues with my games here and there. My need for speed shift 2 kept freezing and I could not get past the starting video. (Currently reinstalling it now) and also my BF4 is running well on ultra, but randomly every 30ish seconds I am getting a stutter and my fps spikes for a quick second. (also tried on High settings and was getting it) its nothing major but was noticeable and annoying.

Also tried out Crysis 3, and it seems to be getting lower fps than before. I was running near to maxed out on the previous board. and now I had to run on High settings to get in the 60s.

Is there something I did not set up correctly in the BIOS? And how can I get my RAM running correctly?

Thank you

I did a repair for windows at first, but it did not do anything. After I swapped it to IDE it booted fine. I installed all the drivers and everything. I will check in the BIOS for the xmp.

Ok so I set up the AHCI sucessfully. Weird thing was when I went to change the registry values, they were already set to it. So when I swapped to AHCI i thought it would crash again, but the drivers installed. Kinda weird.

However now, I am having this weird ass issue with Need for Speed Shift 2. Whenever I start the game, it will not detect any keyboard keys. It makes a ping sound when I press any numbers. When I click with my mouse the game freezes, I have to Ctrl Alt Delete, and Alt Tab back into the game to unfreeze it, but still cannot use my keyboard to move to the next screen or click with my mouse. This was not happening yesterday when I had my previous motherboard. I tried reinstalling the game and it did not work. What gives.

K, I figured it out. Somehow the game got set to default Xbox 360 controller in the profile. Luckily I have 2 computers running here and have a steering wheel for the other. I was able to hook that up and actually get past the screen to set the control to keyboard.

Here is a pic of what I tried.

It still gave me the OC error. The amount of settings the board has is crazy. Is there anyway to get specific timings for the RAM? I also noticed you can control alot of settings from AMD Overdrive. Is that an option to get the RAM running at 1866 mhz? It does seem to run when set at 1600.

Heres another pic... Not sure if it is right?

I tried to set the BIOS to manual mode in the screen above, tried to set the profile to 1866, the timing to 1866, and upped the DRAM voltage to 1.6v and it was still crashing. Do I need to up the voltages more? Not sure if im doing this correctly.

You can get the specific timings for your RAM off of the website and enter them in the BIOS... Once you have done that, make sure to save a BIOS profile so you don't have to go through all of this again :)
