Hello all,

I seem to be having really bad boot issues right now. It all started when my anti virus had just finished scanning and my computer shut down for the last time, I fear, because the windows startup repair tool can't fix the issue and system restore won't help either. I'm pretty sure a virus is causing this because in the few hours before It stopped working, I kept seeing up to 10 "dllhost.exe" running in the task manager with an extra random "conhost.exe" starting and ending every 2 minutes.

So the next thing I tried was booting in safe mode, which oddly enough, did not work either. I mean at this point, my computer is completely useless, and the only notable thing I did was uninstall a few programs that I barely used anymore. However, I had been planning on getting an SSD, as my current HDD has been really slow lately and I think may have bad sectors. But before I just give up hope, I wanted to know if there is some way to at least temporarily fix it so I can backup the files.

Hope that's enough info, thanks.

If you can not boot to safe mode things may be at the point of doing a clean install. In fact from all you say that is what I would do. Get your SSD; unplug the old drive from the MB header (data) and install the OS. After you got the new OS updated and working, plug the old drive back in. You will most likely be able to access it with no issues. Then you can get what you want off it and format it. Then you can use it for photos, music, documents, etc. These type of issues are very hard to deal with in forums. Even if your system was in a shop, I would bet the tech would tell you he had to re-install. It also sounds like you did something that you are not aware of from your description. Hours could be spent trying to get to the issue...
