hey guys! can anyone tell me how can I make my ram run at 1333 mhz...this mobo supports ddr3 1333(O.C)/1066/800 mhz...so currently my ram is running at 1066 according to cpu-z which is showing dram frequency 534.0 MHz! whole system specs are:
e8400 (not overclocked)
corsair value select dd3 1333mhz 2x2gb
gigabyte ga-g41mts2pt
corsair cx430
and hd 4650 1gb ddr2
(yeah kinda old rig but its still swingin')

any help would be appreciated guys!

First of all, it's very unlikely you'd see any benefit based on your other specs. Unless you want a bit more out of the CPU I wouldn't even bother. (If you do, use MEMTEST to test your memory as well as the Intel CPU diagnostic from Intel's site).

As for overclocking, then I'd suggest looking at your motherboard manual. On modern motherboards certain settings like "XMP" or even "AUTO" in the CPU section can optimize your DDR3 memory as well so look into that.

*You may benefit from a BIOS update as well if it doesn't have an optimized memory profile.

There's also normal overclocking of the DDR3 memory which likely involves changing the base clocks or multiplier but again I'd have to read the manual and don't think you'd see a...

I remember some overclocking settings like the BASE MULTIPLIER could apply to both DDR3 and CPU frequency. So overclocking by 20% for example would raise your CPU and memory by the same amount. THIS may help:

i did try to overclock my cpu but the mobo seems inept to do that...i was told that on this mobo i couldn't even yank e8400 to 3.4ghz...i'd only be able to overclock it to 3.2 so i passed and then i thought maybe just tweaking ram would be right but it seems i'd have to put up with this mobo for a while without tinkering! i was planning to upgrade my gpu to gtx 750 ti or 750 sc ..would that be a wrong move too?
