I'm not sure what's wrong and would appreciate your opinions and insight into a problem that started about 2 weeks ago. Before I explain here are my computer specs:
CPU: i7-3930K
OS: W7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
RAM: 12GB DDR3-1600MHz
MOBO: Intel C600
Storage: 2TB 7200RPM HDD
GPU: 3GB Nvidia GT640
Power: 460W
I've had no problem with this computer for the past 2 and 1/2 years. Usually, except when I'm playing games, the CPU usage stays around 0%-10% and the Memory around 20%-30%.
Recently program after program will freeze, or seize up, on me at random and I will have to wait for them to return to normal. This is during regular non-PC taxing activities like surfing the internet, opening windows derangementer, or playing music on windows media player. I can hop on Steam and play Rome Total War 2 or other games which are taxing on the PC and have no problem. So I cannot see freezing or seizing up occurring due to not being capable of handling a large application. Everything reads low levels of usage on the Hardware so then why is this problem happening with the software across multiple software makers? Why are simple and non-intensive programs just stopping temporarily all at once at random?
I have defragmented, updated all of my drivers, scanned for any malicious software with Advanced SystemCare, Microsoft Security Essentials, Anti-Malwarebytes, etc.
Thank you for your time and patience. Please feel free to ask if you need any further information.
