Printer has 2.0 USB cable, usb 3.0 port not accepting 2.0 cable

I have an HP Deskjet F4440 printer which has a 2.0 cable for USB 2.0 port. I have a new desktop which only has USB 3.0 ports on it. I am unable to connect the printer because of port compatibility issues. Please tell me how this can be remedied.

it says that I cannot attach a 2.0 cable to a 3.0 usb port. cable and port not recognized because of 2.0 USB versus 3.0 USB issues.
