Hi All,
Sorry for the post here if not the right place... But no peripheral drop down BTW..Ahemm

I am using an older Dell Mouse from my last box purchase before seeing the light at Tom's Hardware, Built my own... Oh an she is a doozy (think J. Nicholas in Easy Rider..)

Anyhow.... I find when clicking in software that it does not open, or opens, closes and just acts, well kind sick...
IE: When in Bridge (an adobe program) I can be viewing pics and as I go to select another pic using a 'click of a thumbnail' it will launch Photoshop as though I double clicked it. Which I did not.
So I must now Click and hold down click and release very diliberate and slow to not act as though I d.clicked it. I turned down my 'click' speed under properties but still acting up...

malware scan, etc nada.

Any suggestions on a decent mouse at an affordable price for motion graphic art?
I've seem some old wacom's on Ebay (it seems the tablet is bought and set aside due to no instant gratification)

Solution
Test your mouse

press 'windows key' type 'mouse'

Test the mouse by clicking on the folder icon you can adjust some settings here also or even swap buttons for a temp test/fix

Most new mice will work just fine any 400/800 DPI.

Optical or Lazer are better for more surface types and provide higher DPI
A Higher DPI will allow Slower and smoother movement of the pointer allowing better control when photo/gfx editing

Extra buttons can help but will likely just get in the way of when editing
A mouse that fits your hand better one that is ergonomically designed for your hand will be your best option

With mice you do tend to get what you pay for... So I cant recommend a cheap mouse.

You can also use the arrow keys on keyboard and Enter to open files
Along with Keyboard shortcuts and Tab - (you can actually use a fair bit of your computer with out a mouse) but its not always easy to navigate this way.

Go to a Retail shop that sells mice on display grab and it in-store see what feels nice in your hand - Google that mouse Model in case it a lemon or what else is similar that you can afford.

Some Gamers will spend a lot on a mouse that is right for them and never go back to s standard mouse
(Current victim of a Particular mouse type that I just love as it fits my hand like a glove so easy and comfortable and button placement is just perfect)

Buttons - Typically they are micro switches and the spring inside the switch get stretched over time meaning it can trigger more easily or require more pressure to activate it - and sometimes doesn't trigger at all or multiple times (seems to describe your issue)

Also grime can built up around the edges and causing the plastic to stick when pressed.

I've been using this dell mouse for so long I do not think any other would feel right. The only thing I wish is they sold them in sizes, like gloves or handgun grips.
Thanks again, I thought it would be a hassle to switch from left to right, but it has been OK. Looking on Ebayy right now. I could just imagine the switch in 3d modeling I do...
