Update: Turns out it was the ram, after screwing around with the graphics card I reseated the ram and all of a sudden it's working. I'm not sure how it got loose as I checked them all immediately after the graphics card and they (4 sticks) were all seated correctly.

Thanks to those of you who took the time to help me with my problem.

I have two pc's. One older and one newer. The newer one has been having problems so I switched the graphics card out to see if it would fix my problem--it didn't. So I put my old graphics card back into my old pc and now one of 3 things will happen if I turn it on:

The screen is blank, making no connection, sometimes the light on the monitor will turn green then back to orange. After so many tries this is the only thing that happens now.

I get stuck on the splash screen of my motherboard but I have no options to boot into safe mode or go into bios.

Once the screen came on and there was a blinking _ at the top left.

I've checked all of the cords, reseated the graphics card, everything is powered up and running as far as I can tell. What could I have possibly screwed up by taking the card out?

Yes I grounded myself before each time I touched any parts. The reason it didn't work with the other pc is because the newer one has a 600 watt psu whereas my older one has a 1000 watt, the card wasn't getting enough power and always gave me a red light, whereas in the older pc with the higher wattage psu it has a green light. Unfortunately I can't get into the bios as I can never get that far, at best I can get to the motherboard splash screen but it get's stuck there with no response.

Newer PC : 600 watts xtreme gear power supply, GTX 560
Older pc : 1000 watts ultra x3 atx power supply, GTX 280

I could still put the 560 in the older pc to test, which I may do, but I'm a little gun shy now and afraid I may do something to screw the other card up.
