Not sure if I am in the correct thread but as the question states i'm wondering if it's possible to do a conversion from VGA to s-video or RCA as I have a lot of not-HD tv's and I have an extra computer not currently in use and it would be nice to use the old TV as a monitor. Alternative would be for me to use one of those old, dinosaur monitors but this is not ideal and I currently do not have one.

That cable will likely not work, you'd need an active converter. The major issue is that the non HD TVs will be absolutely horrible as a computer monitor, and even for movies.

They have a 480 line resolution, which is about what an old 12-13" computer monitor had. It's also not 480p which is an Ehanced SD TV, but 480i.

Buy a used 17"-19" LCD monitor off craigslist for $20-40 instead of spending the same or more on a converter to get a totally un-usable image.

Had a feeling that might be the case. I think it's probably possible it would just look like crap. I'll probably just wait and buy a flatscreen TV as I planned on using the extra computer in my room and a monitor doesn't seem like the best option to use inside my bedroom.
