The EVGA SuperNova 850G2 power supply is on sale at Amazon and Newegg. Normally around $135 it is now
$109.99 plus a $20 rebate on top of that. If you are building a new pc or want to upgrade yours, this is one of the best PSUs you can get.

I have not completed it yet, I am buying a few parts in advance. When completed, it will have the following inside:

Intel i7-4790k
Asus Maximus VII Hero
Cooler Master Storm Stryker full tower case
Samsung 850 Pro 128gb
Two or Three additional SSDs, most likely Crucial Mx100 512gb
Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 SLI(Only 1 initially)
8GB G Skill Ripjaws X 1600MHz(perhaps 2133)
Pioneer BDR-209DBK-KIT 16X Blu-ray Writer
Noctua NH-U12S cpu cooler(I will be Overclocking, first time ever for me)
Running on Windows 8.1

Hi. Warning: Noob here.

Will 850 be enough? You're going to overclocking and the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 seems like power hogg. Plus you imply that you eventually will have two GTX 970s so you will you have to change PSUs.

But maybe I'm totally wrong here. I see on the specs that there's this: 550W(with one 6-pin and one 8-pin external power connectors). So does that mean the GPU comes with a cord to its own power source? If so, that's really neat.

You could very well be right,. If so, I will just run at stock and should be fine. Once I get a second GTX 970, there would not be any need to overclock the video cards.

This website here is what I use to calculate how much power my system will be running. Even with two 970s overclocked you wouldnt even touch 850 watts

I take that back you might come close I estimate you would have 100-150 watts left over with two 970s overclocked plus your fans and hdd ssd optical drive cpu so if I were you I would go with 1000 watt that would be your best bet if you are planning on doing two 970s
