Alright guys.

I got an old rig that needs major upgrading.
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850
2gb ddr2 800
dell mobo
2gb hd 6450
300w power supply

I'm looking for something that can max fallout 3 (with a couple mods too) and gta iv on high all at 1400x900 (lil bit higher than 720p.)

I'm just having a hard time deciding. I decided against the g3258 because this site shows major frame jumps and they just aren't even enough for me to consider it. Thus, I thought a 750 ti + g3220 would suit me better.

Anyway, which should I pick? AMD system would have a88x mobo, 750k, 8gb ram and a r7 260x. Intel system would have H81 mobo, G3220m 8gb ram and a GTX 750 Ti. Both systems would run on either a high quality ~400w power supply or a lower quality ~500w power supply (50 range)

Which one should I choose?

Well that is your option, I on the other hand think about my money and bought an lga1155 system over 2 years ago and if I had gotten a low end CPU then I could drop in a lga 1155 I5 or I7 and have the same life span on my system as people buying current lga 1150 I5 and I7's! There has been very little progress since the second generation core I series came out.
Back to your conundrum then go with the AMD since it competes more with I3 than a pentium!

problem is i'm not a builder that wants to upgrade old stuff. I start fresh every time.

however... if you have an amd motherboard you can search your motherboard on this website -http://www.cpu-upgrade.com- and it will tell you all the new cpu's / then pick out a gpu by searching best gpu for (then your cpu)
good luck :)
