Hey guys, would like to gather you opinions on this. I was thinking about upgrading from a r9 280x + AMD FX-8320 to a GTX 970 + INTEL Haswell Core i7-4770K . This would be happening around August/September as that would be the only time I'd have money for it. Do you think it would still be worth it then, infact, is it worth it now?

tha'ts WAY to far ahead to look out, next year there may be better parts at better values. instead of speculating just ask us in a year.

now your current system seems pretty good, are you experienecing poor performance in games? you shouldn't be really...

The 970 is an awesome choice, the i7 not so much on a specific gaming setup stick to an i5 k version.

Depending on game you could see up to a 40% increase in fps and a lot smoother gameplay.

What would you want to do specifically? Which games?

Yea, I am experiencing poor performance in games. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare tends to lag, as do some other new releases, although I'm not sure if they're just badly optimised or not (I know Advanced Warfare is supposed to run like a dream, though.

I'd like to play games over the next years on max/high settings. I'm seeing a lot games coming out now on PC that have very high Recommended Specs and I'm not sure my PC can keep up with them.

thats the same reason I got an i7, I know recommended specs can be baloney at times, but I am seeing more and more list request cores. So why not spend and get something that can last a few years.

AMD is rumored to announce a card in quarter 2, so by the time you can get a 970, there will probably be a better card on the market. But that also can mean the 970 will drop in price and if it does, I plan to sli!:)

I'm pretty sure the GTX 970 will drop price but I doubt it will be much at all.
