Motherboards with only 4 ram slots: What happened to the 6-slot boards?

My current locked motherboard that I'm in the process of replacing has 6 ram slots, maxes out at 24gb total, (4gb x6 DDR3) but all of the new DDR3 gamer MB's that I'm seeing only have 4 slots. Is this a trend now days or am I just not looking at the right boards?

Could anyone recommend a 6-slot DDR3 board that isn't uber expensive or am I just being dumb with wanting a 6-slot board? I current have x6 4gb DDR3 sticks and thought it would be neat to keep using them.

Solution
6 slots where only for LGA1366 boards and triple channel, LGA 1366 got replaced with LGA 2011 which has up to 8 slots and support dual, triple and quad channel! All other sockets have only dual channel support and either 2 or 4 slots!

Interesting. Thanks for the speedy reply.
I found an example of what you're talking about HERE, 8-slot board, very nice.

Yes but that board will need new ram since it is DDR4 and only accepts these CPU's http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007671%20600535697&IsNodeId=1&name=LGA%202011-v3
For DDR3 support these boards http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007627%20600238945&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=30 and these supporting CPU's http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007671%20600217725&IsNodeId=1&name=LGA%202011
