Purchased MSi Z97 PC mate + G3258 combo at Micro center along with other new accessories for a new pc build from newegg/tigerdirect. Doing my first build. OK so I have hooked everything properly as per the manual. The case powers up and fans go on (both case+cpu fans). But however no display on either vga or hdmi.
After going through micro center phone support and following tom's hardware no display no post checklist, still nothing, so went and replaced the motherboard to rule out a possible short. Now this time I assembled the pc outside the case on the new mobo using just cpu+mobo power and case power connectors. Once again no display. I have also tested power supply using multimeter and all voltages are perfectly fine.
Is it possible that the CPU is dead?? Also I am thinking can the Bios be outdated since this is Haswell Refresh chip?? I am 4 days away from 14 day return policy so I really need help.
Thanks.

Info on the build:
Ultra Etorque X1 Mid-Tower
XFX TS 550W 80Plus Bronze PSU
Seagate Baracudda 1TB
HyperX Fury Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866
MSi Z97 PC mate
Intel Pentium G3258

Thanks for the reply,
I just called MSI and according to my serial number its a july 2014 build, which according to them, should be able to power on the cpu. So tech support at MSI advised me to check memory compatibility and after that think of possibly CPU being dead.
Please share your thoughts!!
Thanks.

no my case doesnt have speaker, but it does have 2 aux port like slots in front. Will it work with a ear phones if I plug the wires for that on the board??

Also, I need to discuss the memory scenerio.
G3258 support 1333
Z97 pc mate supports 1333/1600 in base mode and everything above in OC mode all the way upto 2400 ( i think)
My memory's base speed is rated at 1866. Does this seem to be an issue??
I already spoke with kingston and as per them it must work fine for this mobo cpu combo. They said this memory has 3 programs 1866, 1600, 1333.
My plan is to pop in another memory borrowing from a buddy tommorow and see if that works.
Please share your thoughts.
Thanks.

yah thats what I thought. I have ordered a PC diagnostic analyzer card from amazon that I will have in 2 days. That gives digital error codes. will update you with the result.
Thanks.

OK i want to provide you with the update. I popped in a DDr3 1333 borrowed from a friend and voila..the screen came to life. so in conclusion the ram wasnt compatible. However kingston support guys told me it must run no issues, with this Mobo/cpu. So I am wondering if a change in bios will allow me to run the memory that I have purchased. Share your thoughts.
Thanks for all your help

well i had no means to test them. So I am going to see if it boots in combination with this RAM.

also mobo specs says this:
DDR3 1066/1333/1600/1866*/2000*/2133*/2200*/2400*/2600*/2666*/2800*/3000*(*OC) MHz

so 1866 only runs in OC mode. So does this means I have to leave the cpu in oc mode to run this? in case I have to stop oc temperorily, would it become unbootable??

Read more about the XMP. looks like Hyperx fury is doesnt have XMP. Kingston have Savage memory with XMP feature.
Would my hyperx fury still work with xmp enabled?? is there any other setting that will allow me to recognize that? see spec sheet:

I am having the exact same problem you have with this board. I returned the first board because it wouldn't even power on. On the second board the fans power up but I get no beeps no display. I tried different Ram sticks from other working computers but that didn't help. I have it benched outside of my case with nothing connected. The only possibility is the board or the CPU. I am using an i5. This is the first build I have ever had a problem with. With two bad boards I am thinking maybe the CPU but I don't see anything wrong with it and it seems unlikely. I placed a PC diagnostic card in the board and it does nothing. (doesn't cycle through any checks).

Hello,
I am having a similar problem and I need help. This is my first time building a PC. I was extra careful in all aspects of the install,, and watched multiple videos. All the fans and lights come on, but I see nothing on my monitor. I have a single stick of 8GB ram, which I was told should work fine. I have tried the ram in each slot, to no avail. My case does not have a buzzer, so I am not getting any of the mobo beeps to help diagnose. Any advise? I'm a week out from my return date, so need to figure out something by then. Thanks!

Here are my specs:

Z97 PC Mate
G3258 Processor
Crucial BX100 250GB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive
Crucial Ballistix Sport Very Low Profile 8GB Single DDR3-1600 (1x8GB)
Antec Earthwatts TM3-650 PSU
GeForce 470GTX (currently uninstalled while trying to trouble shoot this)
