Got an old MoBo Foxconn G31MX and i am planning to add 4 more gigs to my RAM.
The MoBo has 2 slots for RAM and to get 8 i had to get 2 of 4 each ( too much maths ).
http://www.foxconnchannel.com/ProductDetail.aspx?T=motherboard&U=en-us0000452
At the specs it says : "Dual channel DDR2 800/667x 2 DIMMs, Max 4GB"
Max 4GB ? Means that both slots gathered cannot handle more than 4 Gigs ?
The RAM that i want to get is this : Kingston 4GB, DDR3, 1333MHz, Non-ECC, CL9, 1.5V, LowProfile.

Solution
That's right. The board will only recognize 4GB RAM total. The best you can do is 2 x 2GB of DDR2. And no, you cannot use DDR3 RAM in a DDR2 board. Won't fit, won't work.

Oh, i see... You can tho get cheap used MoBos, but it's a risk that may be burned so i don't recommend this. I also saw Second Hand motherboards that sells in a pack with the CPU and sometimes even an aftermarket cooler for a decent price, but it's your choice.

Be aware that if you own this motherboard the thread's about, you can't do anything to get the whole 4 gigs, i tried this on 3 different versions of windows, 7 32bit, 7 64bit and 10 64bit and i can't get more than 2.75GB, that because, as someone said, it was made in the 32-bit era and won't handle 4 gigs of ram so...

i would go for the second one, the gigabyte, but check you're RAM type as that one only supports DDR3 and if you're planning to use the ones from the old MoBo, be sure they're not DDR2 ( just open the case, remove them and check around on them for any infos, it must be typed ).
