I am on a custom built computer and I built it awhile ago and installed windows, then put it away for awhile. I come back to it works at first but it's really slow and I couldn't do anything so I do a hard reset. Big mistake. It kept going into repairing windows and then a black screen and kept looping like that, and I could not boot it into safe mode. It just wouldn't let me. So finally somehow it just recovered itself and repaired some of the corrupted files but it still doesn't really work. Now that i'm in it gives me that it's an activated version of windows 8. Like i said I have nothing saved on this, so is there any way i can take like a recovery software from it or something? The best option would to do a clean install without having to buy another windows 8.

No custom built computers don't have the recovery media creator normal pre-built computers normally have. Pretty much you need to find a Windows 8 disc and use that. You can try to Reset Your PC in the Update and Recovery tab in the Change PC Settings in the Charms Bar but you'll still need the disk.

Yeah I just tried the restart and it said files were missing or corrupted and that my windows install disc would help that.........only if i actually had the install disc.
