More Ram vs Better Processor (System Build)

Hello Wise Ones!

The quest of building my first computer continues as I have a little more money to play with in my budget. My question for all of you is this: If I could only get one, should I get a better processor than the one I'm planning, or more ram? The processor I have chosen right now is the AMD FX 6300 and the Ram I have right now is the Crucial Ballstix 8GB Dual Stick. Should I upgrade to the AMD FX 8320 or should I upgrade the Ram with an extra 4 GB of the same ram? Thank you for all your help!

So here is the real deal about having more ram... it does not actually help you until you need it, although windows will use excess ram to optimistically load programs but the benefits of it are fairly small especially in gaming. If you have an SSD then the benefits are really small.

Example 1
Your computer has 8 gigs of ram and your programs need 5 gigs of ram adding more wont help.

Example 2
Your computer has 8 gigs of ram and your programs need 10 gigs of ram. The ram will help a ton.

Most people will not need more than 8 gigs of ram, even having a ton of browser tabs and lots of things open don't use that much. ATM I have 8 tabs open, 2 browsers, three instances of visual studio and a few other things open. I am using 6 gigs of ram. I have a total 0 12 so windows is using the other 6 to optimistically load memory from my hard drive for faster access.

So my advice is unless you are running virtual machines on your box or doing other heavily ram dependent things on your box get the faster processor.

Thanks everyone so far! I'll Explain a little more. I am using this "box" as cosmo77 put it, for video capture for gaming and video editing said videos for youtube.
