yes thats fine if they are the same model and all. Same speed is not really necessarily same speed - the latency could be different, etc. I thin your board lets you adjust each bank of ram individually so I think you will be fine regardless. You may have to disable 1t mode if its enabled.

On an x79 board you should run 4 sticks matched ram for quad channel. Mixing ram may work and it may not.

^ This is true. I forgot that the x79 was quad channel. However, I'm on a x59 board with 2x2gb and 2x1gb and it works just great in dual channel mode.

24gb ram? D, well 4 is my personal number (favorite??) and 2 is a gemini number?? (star sign) so 2 and 4 24 , plus not many people have 24gb ram and i like to do a bit of photoshop and illustrator work plus i want to do some video editing.

It may or may not work, any time you mix sets of DRAM on a mobo, regardless if it's dual, tri or quad channel it may be and often is problematic.
