Lately I picked myself up two gtx 970s (msi dragon series if that matters) and WAS going to run them in SLI on my asus sabertooth z77 with an intel core I7 3770k @4.4ghz. However, I have not been able to get the motherboard to even realize there is a graphics card in the 2nd pcie slot. I know for sure both graphics cards are set up and working properly by testing them both in the first pcie slot. From what I've read around the net some other people claim to have the same problem trying to get the sabertooth z77 to run in 8x8x mode as well. Mine seems stuck on pcie 3.0 x16 in the first slot while the second is disabled entirely. Also, BIOS are the most recent and I haven't tried to bridge them yet with an SLI bridge. Any suggestions as to what my problem could be and how to solve it are appreciated. Thanks for your time and effort ahead of time.

Solution
In BIOS, System Agent Configuration, Graphics Configuration, try setting Primary Display to PEG and test again the second slot with single card. If still the same, then it might be a board or a bent pin issue.

So I tried your suggestion and post screen came up, windows loaded, and then went black on the password screen. Then I booted it up with the igpu and it acted like there was nothing in the pcie slots. Soooo... pretty sure 2nd slot is broken now... but that's just me. What do you think? :??:

Tried the other card alone in the second slot and still got the same result :(. I know both the cards are fully functioning because I tested them both in game as well.
