So here's the deal: I've been console gaming since I was a small child. Only this past summer I've got into pc gaming. I still haven't got used to a keyboard and mouse (and no I haven't used a controller since I built my pc, shows how much I love pc haha)

Countless times I've died because the enemy is at an angle where my wrist simply doesn't go to. As a pretty serious gamer, this is very annoying to me. When I'm turning around and aiming, my mouse will fall off the mouse pad and lead to more deaths.

It may be because I have piece of junk mouse pad and a 9 dollar mouse, but I'm wondering how this might make a difference?

I definitely recommend the SteelSeries Gaming mice. I have the SteelSeriers Sensei, and Sensei Wireless, and they are excellent gaming mice. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=steelseries+sensei&N=-1&isNodeId=1

Another of the SteelSeries gaming mice is the Rival series, found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=steelseries+rival&N=-1&isNodeId=1

You can't go wrong with any of these. Razer's offering are pretty way to go as well, as well as, Logitech's gaming mice. Though I have been using SteelSeries gaming mice for many years now and love them. There are choices between optical and laser gaming grade mice out...
A good mousepad can make a tremendous difference, more than what the best mouse could do on it's own with a crappy mousepad, and if you still want to improve your experience go also with a gaming mouse, you'll have to try to see which is better for you, though I'd suggest you a Razer Goliathus Speed mousepad, as for mouses Roccat and Steelseries have some interesting offerings.

But many 'hardcore' gamers will tell you a good optical mouse is the way you want to go. Myself included.. :)

And, definitely get yourself a good gaming mouse pad as well, while your at it. You won't be disappointed.
