BSOD : 0x000000ef Windows 8.1 after 4-5 hours of gaming.

Hello!

I've recently been experiencing the BSOD 0x000000ef after gaming for 4-5 hours. It isn't limited to certain games; it happens during all. I am using 64 bit Windows 8.1. I had the same issue last August, but with Windows 7. I upgraded to Windows 8.1, and it just started occurring again. Any insight would helpful as to how to fix this.

I'm not certain the above applies to you since it happened with Windows 7 and 8. I suggest you test your memory.

www.memtest.org

Run for a full pass (about 30 minutes for 8GB). May need to change the BOOT ORDER so you can boot from the DVD or USB stick.

Do that, then we can take it from there depending on the results. If memtest does fail, try each stick (if you have more than one) by itself using the slot recommended in the motherboard manual.

If only one stick fails you need to RMA your memory. If both sticks fail it may be a timing issue but since it sounds like everything worked fine before I doubt that would be the case.

(FYI, if memory is the problem and it's resolved you still may need to reinstall Windows)

Other:
After looking things over it is a weird problem. You may want to look at your DEVICE MANAGER for conflicts as well since I'm getting the impression it's a software driver issue.

May want to also try MALWAREBYTES, and reinstall a few drivers (motherboard main chipset, video, audio etc)
