Can I fit a 6+2 pin into an 8 pin connector?

I have purchased a PSU and a GPU and forgot to check the PSU's connectors.

I was wondering if I could get an adapter or something for it or do I have to purchase a new PSU?

6+2 pins is a 6 pin connector with an optional 2 pin that can be clipped into place.
This means it can act as a 6 pin, or an 8 pin. It will work with both.

The PCI-E power connectors are designed specifically for the PCI-E graphic cards. If the graphic card has a PCI-E 6-pin, then that cable or the 6-pin on a 6+2pin PCI-E power cable from the power supply will work. If the graphics card has a PCI-E 8-pin power connector, then an 6+2pin PCI-E cable (with the +2 attached) will fit and work with your graphics card.
