Ok so I have been wanting a gaming machine for a long time and so far the two best brands for the price is the alienware 13 and the asus g551. Which one should I buy? The alienware has better speakers, screen, and looks in my opinion. asus has better benchmarks. If you guys know better options that will be great. I also really like quiet and decently cool laptops so which one should I get. (and please no desktop or build your own please!)

Solution
ASUS is your choice

Alienware is a bit overpriced if you ask me...

But i think the ASUS runs a bit hot ....

If you want a quieter cooler one (maybe thinner and cheaper`1000$) go for the lenovo y50 (4700hq and 860m and it is 2.4kg `5pounds) cons-no space for ssd and bad screen(which you can replace for an ips one for really cheap price`70$ or go for the 4k variant ~1100$(but you cannot run games at 4k wih an 860m)

hope it helps!!

ASUS! Until you've seen both screens in person you can't really determine which screens are better. But what you can determine for sure is that the ASUS will perform better. That said, I'd go with the ASUS laptop.

Or don't game on a laptop. Sounds convenient, but you will hate it later. Everyone I know that has done that switched back to a desktop since laptops can't hack it over time. Not to mention, other than mobility what is the point of gaming on a laptop? They cost more for the lesser hardware and they mostly overheat (because I know no one carries a cooler with them everywhere they go). Not to mention you have to have them plugged in since the batteries don't last long at all. Gaming laptop == Hassle == Not worth your time, unless you absolutely need to be mobile all the time. If you need the laptop for CAD or higher end computing in college or in your profession then that's a more justifiable reason to have a more powerful laptop like that.

yes,You can always upgrade to a SSD later if you choose or put what's left in your budget into a SSD.
