I'm looking for a computer that I can build. My budget is about $600 but I can go a couple hundred more if I have to.
I only have a basic knowledge on what parts are good from watching a bunch of Austin Evans' videos on PC builds.

I use ableton and have to connect a bunch of midi devices on my computer which slows down a lot when I use the software. I also need to be able to use lightroom and premiere elements so It would be nice to have good graphics.
I'm wondering if Intel processors are really that much better than AMD... This may also be a stupid question but would all processors and parts work for any motherboard? Or would you need a certain type of motherboard for something more powerful...

I'm sure most of you are sick of answering questions like this, but thank you anyway!

also..I've been told that Apple computers would suit my needs a lot better but I just don't have the budget to buy one. Even if I save up a little more I feel like I would want more space or add something in the future, which isn't really possible with apple computers. If you're an apple user, would you say that it's worth it?

Solution
1) X) I myself suscribed to Austin Evans, but he wasn't much good. Talking about Rosewill... Do LinusTechTips, like I did. At least he does stuff like $4K builds, Kaveri, and whatnot...
2) Can be done, but at a higher price. Gimme max price.
3) I would say go with Intel if you're doing audio stuff. At least you get Hackintosh support
4) I can easily deal with compatibility... And you seem to be loaded up with myths.
5) Apple computers are good, but not worth it. For $1000 you only get Intel HD Graphics 4x00 or 5000/Iris Pro. But for that price, you can build a decent workstation build.
