Hello all,

I just bought a new computer. To save some money I am installing an additional ssd myself. My computer is not recognizing the new ssd, so I wanted to go into BIOS to see if it was being recognized or if I have to turn the port on.

Here is my problem, when I turn on my computer, I go from black screen straight to windows login. I never see the gigabyte logo screen / POST, so I can't access my BIOS.

Everything else is working fine with the computer. This isn't a power issue as I have ample power.

I am wondering if it is a monitor/display issue that for some reason my monitor is not displaying the boot up period.

Any help/suggestions would be very much appreciated!

By the way my motherboard is Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI.

Yeah you probably were in the BIOS I wonder if you need to have your display connected to the motherboard or some other output for it to display correctly?

But at least you got your drive working :)

Hit F2 and/or Del (One of them should work) while your screen is black (I tap the key a few times until the bios screen shows up). You should be able to access it that way.

EDIT:
BTW is the drive not showing in the Disk Management tab of the Computer Management tool in Windows?

Thank you! It was showing up in the Disk Management tab... I needed to initialize/format it. Rookie mistake I guess. Thank you!

I still have not solved my "can't enter BIOS" problem, but the immediate problem is fixed. I tried hitting Delete multiple times when it would seem that it is booting up. When I do that, it just stays on a black screen and never goes to Windows. That is what makes me think it is some kind of display issue. It almost seems like I got in, but I can't see anything. Not sure if you have any other ideas.

Thanks again!
