i5 4460 best cooler among the two?

Solution

You are a little warm but do not panic. Intel recommends a normal operating temp of 72.72 degrees. An aftermarket will bring those temps down. Like the coolermaster I and others talked about.

Just because you are not overclocking does not mean a cpu cooler upgrade will not help. Yes if you use your computer like grandma surf the web and play candy crush and nothing more. Then ok, the stock will be ok. But if you are planning on really stressing your cpu especially with intensive gaming then an upgrade is warranted. When the temps get hot the stock coolers begin to fade. This Born out in review ahter review, test after test. As a computer Builder and user I highly recommend that you upgrade if you are going to stress out your cpu. Your cpu will love you for it. Even though he cannot talk.

Well obviously better cooling = better performance, but since he's on a tight budget he may as well just stick with stock. Those things are not that bad. Plus I doubt he'll be on full load 24/7. Even if he is a heavy gamer, most games are more GPU dependent. As long as the CPU isn't bottlenecking, it'll be fine.

but my processor goes 55-65 on load, or when i am gaming where as my gpu is like 55-65 also.. should'nt the processor run cooler than the gpu? my gpu is r9 270x. i'm worried it would break sooner than normal. im using HW, Aida 64, gpu z and intel tuning utility for monitoring temps and loads.

Keep the processor at 45 - 50 degrees to be safe. 60 should be the maximum: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/desktop-pc/3498564/what-is-ideal-cpu-temperature/

So since you're on a budget, get the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rr212e20pkr1

You may have to move your RAM sticks to the 2nd and 4th slots for the heatsink to fit.
