XFX Pro Black Edition 850W VS SeaSonic SSR-750RM G 750W

Hello,

After a few upgrades I think it is a good Idea to upgrade my PSU and I have a choice of two units:
1- XFX Pro Series Black Edition 850W PSU 80 Plus (Gold)
2- SeaSonic SSR-750RM G Series 750W 80 PLUS (Gold)

My current PC is as follows:

Mother Board: Gigabyte GA-z77x-UD3H
CPU: Core I5 3570k
GPU: Galaxy GTX 760 2GB
PSU: HEC ACE-580UB 580W ATX12V
HDD: 1TB HDD X2

HELP Me Choose...

Both are are extremely high quality PSUs, XFX PSUs are OEM by SeaSonic, so I'd go with higher wattage and get the 850W Black.

^^ both are great psu's, but both are also way overkill for your build. A 500w one will do you just fine with some room for upgrading and overclocking.

Those are very much overkill.

A 500w unit is more tahn enough for your system...

They are both very good units.

If he's to upgrade to SLI or high end setup in future, he won't have to change the PSU again, and having spare power is never bad. Yes this much of spare power is actually a waste if he doesn't plan to upgrade GPU anytime soon.

I was adviced to upgrade my PSU, so i can achieve better performance in gaming, and my second monitor loses signal alot after upgrading gpu from GTX260 to GTX 760.
But you all thinks that my build doesn't need more than 500w, though my GTX760 alone needs a Minimum System Power Requirement (W) of 500W.
so is it just that my current HEC PSU is not efficient enough?

-> Yes, your build doesn't need more than 500W, but a very imp statement is missing, 'from a quality unit'. Given your PSU could take the 182W TDP GTX 260, it should take the 760 which has lesser TDP. 500W is full system load (will never be achieved, as it is calculated with headroom in mind) not just for the GPU.

I suspect it being a PSU issue, as then you'd have encountered different type of issues. It's more about your GPU ports, monitor and cable.

What EXACT HEC unit do you have? its more likely a specific issue with it instead of a general wattage problem.

Yeah that unit looks pretty dodge, not that familiar with it.

But just by looking at the output config, I would say its odd.

Get a new unit, but 500-600w is more than enough. Check the below list, stick to tier1, tier 2a and tier2b.

If a PSU has lots of wattage on 3.3V and 5V lines, and mediocore on 12V lines, means it's not a great unit.

Novuake :

Ok, sounds great, but just an extension to the conversation,
could the PSU be a reason that my second monitor loses the signal alot?
Sometimes it gets the signal back after a PC restart, and sometimes it doesn't.
tried another TV, same problem. (but the other tv name appears in the system as detected, but no picture appears)
tried another HDMI cable
tried all the ports.
tried to change the coverter (From HDMI to MINI HDMI).

That definitely is a possible PSU issue that is giving intermittent or insufficient power.

Voltage regulation is essential for continous (and correct amount of) power to the components, which most budget PSU (including yours) lack quite a bit. The issue with your GPU can either be associated with your ports and cables (which you've checked) or your PSU.
