Insane heat issues with the I7 2600K?

I want to just put this out there, I am still quite very new to the PC gaming scene.

I purchased a PC earlier this year, all new parts, and recently bought a few games from Steam such as Dead Rising 3 and Watch_Dogs (yep, I've heard the things about said games on the PC, but I still went with those). My specs are: Mobo MSI P67A-C43, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, EVGA GTX 780Ti and my CPU is the I7 2600K @ 3.4GHz with the stock cooler. My main issue here is with Dead Rising 3 and all of the other games I play... this even happens with the new Wolfenstein game, sadly. My CPU usage constantly jumps to from 20% to instantly 80-90% to even 100% with any of these games which causes insane lag. Me and my friend recently reapplied the thermal paste but that didn't seem to change things. The CPU fan itself has no dust or anything like that in it.

Any help is greatly appreciated, guys. Right when I get free time off from work, I get to FINALLY play my PC I got built for myself earlier this year, and I get hit with this issue. :'(

Go for it. The 212 is a good all round cooler and is probably the single most popular air cooler on the market.
You really need to ditch the rubbish stock cooler and get a decent aftermarket one on there. Those stock coolers are just about worthless for anything but browsing the internet on, let alone gaming. Go grab yourself a nice all in one liquid cooler, or perhaps either a Noctua NH-D14 or a Cooler Master Hyper 212.

I also have an i7 2600k @ 4.5 ghz, i use the noctua cooler. I never get over 60 degrees celsius when gaming even with the biggest baddest newest games. Definetly get an aftermarket heatsink, im surprised you didnt notice it before. Good luck :)
