Hi all,

Due to system boot issues, I booted my system with the OS disk and formatted C: drive alone and installed a new copy of Windows7 professional x64.

After reinstallation, i don't see realtek audo device detecting under device manager. Instead, it has "High definition Audio device" listed under Sound, video and game controllers.

Integrated NIC is from realtek and that is getting detected. Both audio and nic are integrated.
I tried uninstalling the driver from device manager. It wont install realtek any more.

Both msinfo32 and speccy shows the hardware component as "Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (High Definition Audio Device)". I know this sounds strange but i had Realtek audio manager before through which i was able to setup 5.1, 2.1.

Is this known issue in windows7 ? Any suggestions please.

It's not unusual for Windows not to have all the third-party drivers you need after a fresh install.
Just download the driver from the appropriate website as below:

Factory-built PC: download drivers from that PC manufacturer's website.

Custom/Home-built PC: download drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's website.

(Realtek HD Audio Manager is included in the Realtek audio driver package download).

Hello Philip,

Thanks for the heads-up mate. I did pull up the system board version and installed the sound driver.
Worked like a charm. Thank you so much for your time. Cheers
