Hi!

I'm building a new PC for my brother. The problem is, the display switches to energy saving mode, after the windows7 logo disappears. It is a completly new install, only with the drivers from the MoBo's DVD installed.

The system:
Pentium G3258
Intel HD4600
Dell U2412M via DVI
Asus H81M

At first everything went great, but after the Intel HD driver, this problem occured every time I try to boot. In safe mode however it works fine. If I uninstall the display driver in Safe mode, then the regular boot works again, but without a proper driver, there is no aero, and etc. Windows installs some basic driver, and if I leave it be, then there is no problem at boot. But if I try to install even the latest driver from Intel, the mentioned problem happens again. I literally just opened the boxes of the components, and installed a windows. Nothing more.

Any Ideas? Thanks

Hello... It could be that the MB output connector needs to changed to the "PRIMARY" Display in the Windows Software... Sometimes you need to "sync" the output connectors so that the BOOT screen and Windows screens remain on the Same connector.
To do this would be to change the connector output, at the MB, after Windows boot, to get a Display and set that output as Display 2.
Another way would be to see if your BIO's has a option for which connector is Primary Display output.

Good idea, but I can't start the Intel HD software from the desktop, it wont start in Safe Mode.

Hello... How many outputs for your Display are on your MB?
try each one after Windows BOOT to determine the connector that is " Primary".
You could also borrow or install another graphics card to get access to the software, to set you primary and secondary screens/connectors in Windows.

I switched to a VGA cable, and now it works fine. Weird... Though good idea with the outputs. I have to try with HDMI, I hope this works as well, because it'll be used with that.
